VTU CGPA & SGPA Calculator (2022 NEP & CBCS)
The complete, unified academic calculation suite for Visvesvaraya Technological University engineering students. Compute cycle-specific semester SGPA, track cumulative 8-semester CGPA, and convert grades using official NEP 2022 & CBCS regulations.
This tool fully incorporates the revised VTU NEP 2022 Grading System and official circular guidelines:Percentage (%) = CGPA × 10 (standard direct multiplier without the legacy 0.75 offset), the 20-credit standardized 1st-year Physics & Chemistry cycle templates, continuous internal evaluation (CIE/SEE) credit scales, and backward compatibility with 2018/2021 CBCS regulations ((CGPA - 0.75) × 10).

VTU Grading Frequently Asked Questions
Official answers regarding VTU grading policies, NEP 2022 cycles, credit requirements, and backlog rules.
Under the VTU 2022 NEP scheme, the official formula is: Percentage (%) = CGPA × 10. If you achieved an 8.70 CGPA, your percentage is 8.70 × 10 = 87.00%.
Multiply each course's credit weight by the earned letter grade point (e.g., 4 credits × 9 grade points = 36). Sum all earned credit points across the semester, and divide by the total semester credits (usually 20.0 for 1st year cycles). SGPA = Total Grade Points / Total Semester Credits.
An 'F' grade carries 0 grade points. The course credits are still counted in the denominator of the SGPA formula, which reduces your SGPA for that semester. When you clear the subject in subsequent attempts, the new grade point replaces the 0 in your updated CGPA calculation.
Lateral entry students start from Semester 3. Their CGPA calculation includes only Semesters 3 through 8 (total 120 credits under NEP 2022). Semesters 1 and 2 are excluded from their cumulative degree average.
