Calculation Logic

CGPA Weighting Formula:

CGPA is NOT a simple average of SGPAs. It is a credit-weighted average:

CGPA = Σ(SGPA_i × Credits_i) / Σ(Credits_i)
Lateral Entry Rules:

Students admitted via Lateral Entry (Diploma holders) enter directly in Semester 3. Their SGPAs for Semesters 1 and 2 are omitted, and calculations start at Semester 3.

Official CGPA Guidelines & FAQS.

Does my SGPA of a failed subject carry over into CGPA?

Yes, indirectly. Until you clear a failed course, the grade points remain 0, dragging down that semester's SGPA. Since CGPA is calculated using the weighted sum of SGPAs, the uncleared backlog will continue to lower your overall CGPA until it is cleared.

What is the difference between CGPA and GPA?

GPA or SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) evaluates your performance in a single semester. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) combines the GPAs of all semesters completed so far, representing your overall academic performance across your entire degree program.
